I'm pretty happy with the drawings I did today. People are starting to mention that these are a nice blend of traditional figure drawing, and new age digital media; difficult to define or describe, but definitely different. Further comments welcome. BTW, I'm in the market for a Tablet PC now (the next logical step). Any suggestions as to which tablet might be best suited to a digital artist would be greatly appreciated. It would need to have pressure sensitivity in the screen, be fast, and of course play well with Photoshop.

Now, I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and assume that they are only doing this because they'd rather them be drinking at home, than out on their own, doing who-knows-what. That's fine - if it's only your kid. You can do whatever you want with your own children within the confines of your home. The trouble is the other kids that might be going to these parties without the consent of their parents - or without said parent's knowledge of the goings on at these parties. It all smells bad, and any adult in their right mind, should know that this kind of behavior is just wrong. The Sherriff's office seems to agree, and has stepped in to put the hammer down (up to a year in jail and a fine for hosting one of these get-togethers). I say - good - it's about time.

I'll post the initial sketch for the long pose first so you can see where it started, and where it finally ended up. As I said before I rarely like the longer drawings because they feel over-worked, but this time I think I was able to time it out better - and know when to stop.

This next one is a State issue cartoon concerning (what else?) our crumbling educational resources. I thought that playing off of the whole Apple for The Teacher thing was kinda cool - as usual, the kids get the pits.

This first one is my Govt. in The Sunshine cartoon submission for this year. If you'd like to know more about that you can go here or here, but basically it's a week where open Government is celebrated and encouraged.
This next cartoon is in response to the recent idiotic statements made by Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure there are at least a couple of my conservative friends who will want to call me to the canvas on this one, but I don't really care. I'm ready for them. The real tyrannical and unpatriotic one is he who wants Obama to fail. Follow him if you want. Oh, and by the way, the accepted translation from Latin is "as always with tyrants."
This last cartoon is for one of my local papers, but it can also be viewed as a national issue. We've got so many projects here in Jacksonville, that have been shelved because of the economy. Now the wait for stimulus money is making for a nervous County Commission. We'll see how long it takes for it to show up in the coffers. I've got a cold today, and I'm feeling particularly snarky. Can you tell?

I saved my favorite of the day for last. I like the way I manipulated the camera angle to emphasize an already dramatic view (below) the figure. I also worked on this one in Photoshop to give a little punch of color.
