Sunday Sketch - Nov. 20

Sorry it's taken me so long to get these posted. It's been a busy couple of weeks with home repairs and some renovation. I'll post the 3 minute gestures first and then a longer pose from my Moleskine. I was pretty happy with the gestures. It's always a little dicey when doing them in pen & ink, but I think these are OK.

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. Look for more frequent posts now that our house is put back together again.

Cheers,

Ed

Monday's syndicate cartoon

It's a rarity for me to wake up on Monday morning with an idea for a cartoon. But this morning, there it was, somehow mysteriously imprinted on my brain.

A couple of cartoons & some P&C news!

Here's most of what I did this week. The "Lowering the Bar" cartoon ran in my local paper as well as on the syndicate.

In other news, it looks like "Pedro & the Clown have found a new home! That means I'll be posting monthly installments of my comic strip starting next week. Keep an eye out for it. I feel so fortunate to be able to continue to develop these characters. In the meantime I'll post the cover art for the first edition of the new paper.

Cheers,

Ed

Sunday Sketch

The model yesterday is a former ballet dancer. She took some very challenging and interesting poses. Here's my Moleskine montage.

Show me the money!

I enjoyed this article by Tony Barnhart on the Penn State fiasco: http://tinyurl.com/7l43gdw It sparked one more end of the week cartoon for the syndicate.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Quick sketch from yesterday's SketchUp

Graphite and Derwent Inktense Pencils in the Moleskine.

Last syndicate cartoon of the week

I'll let this one speak for itself. I had been looking for a way to use the "Porch of The Maidens" on the Acropolis in a cartoon, and this week finally gave me that opportunity.

If I don't see you tomorrow, have a great weekend!

Today's local fare

I have a feeling this cartoon might get letters. My cartoons referencing religion in any way shape or form are notorious for getting people riled up. My favorite part of the cartoon is the first "woot" in recorded history.

For all my New Englander friends

This story made me appreciate the JEA, and how quickly they get power back up after hurricanes. Here's a synopsis from my good buddy Elena Steier, editing her blog from a dimly lit ipad in her darkened living room: http://americanblogress.com/sickworld/2011/11/07/letter-from-the-editor/

This week's syndicate cartoons

I got a kick out of this week's vote in the House which passed a resolution reaffirming that our country's motto remain “In God We Trust.” Really? That's the best they could do? Meanwhile the Country is going straight down the tubes because they can't agree on much else. The second cartoon deals with the new smoke trails leading out of Herman Cain's campaign kitchen.

A few recent cartoons

Back from vacation, and I've finally got some time to post these. The local one (with the propane tanks) is probably my favorite. I really enjoyed inking that one, and I like the way the drawing came out. More later this week, so stay tooned! -E
