Today's cartoon

After quite a busy day yesterday, I managed to squeeze in my final syndicate cartoon for the week. This meant missing Dr. Sketchy's last night, but I fully intend to be at the next one. See you then Art Monkeys!

Local cartoons

Here are my (2) local cartoons from this week (forgot to post them earlier - sorry).

I think we might get letters on this first one. Only one County Commissioner is calling them out on this. Unfortunately, because the good 'ol boys rule in St. Johns County, they seem to always determine where the tax dollars go.

This second cartoon was sparked by a really stupid act on the part of two adults in Baker County. The only thing I didn't mention in the cartoon is that they left the kids in the car to run into a bar for a "quick" drink. The boys (both five years old) are fine, but the parents were reported to DCF and now the kids are in the custody of the grandparents. Sadly typical. Enjoy your weekend, and stay out of the heat!

Saturday fun with Dat & Yuki

Other than having one of my cartoons picked up by the Washington Post yesterday, the highlight of my weekend was Dat bringing Yuki over to model for me. I love this dog, and it was lots of fun sketchin' her and talking shop with Dat. I'm steadily building up a body of work. Stay tooned, and let me hear from you!Cheers,

Wednesday night coffee & sketch fix

We sketched at Starbucks last night until 9:00pm, and actually closed the place. Great conversations though with Dat and Henry. This woman was wearing scrubs, so I assume she was a nurse waiting on her shift. She watched the entire movie Miss Congeniality on her laptop, so she didn't move too much. My wife says this drawing looks more deliberate than other recent sketches. Don't know what that means, but I'll take it. Anyway, today it's stretching canvas, more painting, and a late meeting. Stay in touch!

Text-crazed teens invading parks and campgrounds!

I couldn't help myself. I see this now everywhere I go. Parks, ballgames, BBQ's, boating. Everybody is texting 24/7. Come on kids - it's a big world - get out there and play!

Speaking of time away from the computer, we had a great figure drawing session last night at my friend's downtown "art loft." Wonderful model, good pose, and I think I got at least one good drawing out of it. I'll post those results shortly.

First toon of the week

I had a VERY productive weekend painting and drawing, so now I guess it's time to cartoon again. I've been waiting for this idea to materialize in my brain for some time now. Finally, this morning, it did. Enjoy.

Census Dodgers

Baker County's submittal rate for the 2010 Census is around 60%. The national average is 73%.

An oil soaked Presidency

It's looking more and more like his Presidency will be defined by this event. Now let's see what he can do about it other than playing politics and the blame game.
