I really feel for teachers across Florida. It seems they are having to make due with less and less each year. Meanwhile lawmakers in Tallahassee are in the process of tying teacher's pay to student performance, a move dismissed by many as unreliable. At a recent Superintendents conference in Tallahassee, the speaker opened by asking "would you like to hear the bad news first or the abysmal news first?" Now comes word that Music, Art and (gasp) even sports face the chopping block. One wonders what is left to cut after that, and if the future Florida classroom looks like a bunch of kids sitting around staring at one another.
