Last week, Jacksonville Beach officials found a large, two-bedroom cavern under the pier, and proceeded to drive out the homeless who had holed up in it, and then fill it with sand. The pier manager joked 'How long do they get to live down there before getting homestead exemption?' Meanwhile the homeless and panhandling situation at the beach continues to get worse.
