Back to the Yard Studio!

70 degrees, brilliant sunshine, & I popped out of my hole like Punxsutawney Phil. Here's a sequenced start to a new painting I'm working on. The dog's name is Bleu. And yes, those are shorts I'm wearing. Woo hoo! Come on Spring!

This month's installment of Pedro & The Clown

The St. Augustine Underground hits the street today! And P&C are up to their usual shenanigans, so be sure to pick up a copy at a fine establishment near you.
Cheers,

New Toons

Here's a gaggle of cartoons from this week - in no particular order. I'm gonna try to paint over the weekend. I have so much busy work that I have to do before I can actually get back out in the "yard studio." We'll see.
Stay tooned and stay warm,
Ed

Tuesday Night Moleskine Sketch

We went to Dat's studio on Tuesday night to sketch the figure. I'll post this one from the Moleskine that I was pretty happy with.

New toons

Here's a few local cartoons from this past week. Just now getting around to posting them. Sorry for the delay.

We've had a rash of copper thefts here in NE Florida lately. People are even stealing copper urns from cemetery plots now. Sad. Also, rising gas prices continue to be a source of concern. I found it weird that during a recession, crime would actually fall. You would think it would be the other way around. The last cartoon deals with Rick Scott's administration's treatment of the press since his inauguration. A spokesman for the Scott team has said that Scott will only take a set number of questions, that press members cannot pursue him after speeches for comment, and that they would appreciate an "obedient" press corp.

Monday Night Moleskine Sketches

Here are a couple of drawings I did Monday night at Dat's studio. It got kind of cold so they supplied the model with a space heater. I'll be painting all day today, and then giving a lecture on editorial cartooning at Jim Niss Studios this evening.
Stay warm!

Wine Label Design

A recent design that I submitted for a wine label competition. They went abstract with the one they chose. Oh well, maybe I'll submit it for a different one in the future.

Today's cartoon

Dr. Sketchy's January - The Ice Queen

I had an off night at Dr. Sketchy's last evening. I'm still bothered by the tiny smoke-filled bars where these are held. My allergies can't hold up under the smoke, so hopefully they can search out some new venues this year. I'll just post a few of these, as I left early & wasn't completely satisfied with most of what I did.
