One of the most interesting things about these Preston Blair drawings is how "animated" the still images are. Utilizing ovals and circles to build these forms allows you to squeeze and stretch the forms (like a rubber ball) not only up and down, from left to right, but also into and out of the space. Overlapping the spheres gives you a lot of "flexibility" in this regard; imagining that the space can be compressed or pulled away from you and towards you in all 3 dimensions.
