Quick Samurai-Geisha sketch

Here's a quick sketch for another Sanzoku I'm working on. I'm not particularly happy with the "feel" of this one, and I'm still not quite sure why. But I figured I'd go ahead and post it, so I can get some feedback.

We've got our Sunday sketch class tomorrow, so look for some fresh figure drawings on Monday.

Happy Weekend!

I like the design and colors. I think that perhaps what is bugging you is that she looks too weighted down. It's almost as if she is stuck and is looking up at the viewer -- caught. Perhaps if she was looking directly at us. Or maybe I'm way off base.

That should have read: "Perhaps if she was NOT looking directly at us." Sorry for any confusion.

No Craig. You're not off base at all. I think I agree. I wanted a "sneaking up" kind of pose, but I think the bird's eye view as you said makes her look "stuck" to the roof instead of crawling over it - cat like. I also tend to like the more triumpant poses for my female subjects, and because this one is seen from above, it makes the viewer more dominant.

Thanks,
E

All good comments Craig. Thanks! I wish more people would offer such constructive feedback. That's part of the reason I started this blog in the first place.
Cheers,

You're welcome.

I think people are hesitant to comment because you're such a talented artist, it's almost like, "who am I to make suggestions..."

At any rate, I'm glad you found my comments helpful.
